Digital SLR
I received my Canon Digital Rebel XTtoday. yeehaw! Initial pictures taken with it will be here.
I purchased it from Adorama in New York. They also sell through Amazon, which is how I found them.
For the rig I purchased (camera body, 50 mm lens, 2 GB CF card, and UV filter) they were over $100 cheaper than B&H and WAAAAY cheaper than the local shops here in Chicago.
One word of caution; when I placed the order I received the following in an email:
Your order is in progress. Please be so kind and call me at 800-223-2500. When the recording comes on please press #9 followed by ext.2258, and ask for Meyer. Please have your order number ready , which can be found in the subject line of this email.Looking foward to speaking with you.
That of course got me to call them and once I got through, it was an up-sell attempt to increase the warranty and to buy additional filters. In the future I’ll be sure to add the comment “don’t contact me for an up-sell” when placing orders.
To see my research on digital SLR cameras, see this page, which includes links to all the resources I used. Its a good read, especially if you buy into the marketing hype that more megapixels are better!
