iTunes Update

Picture 2.pngI updated my iTunes today and one of the new features is to automatically download missing album artwork.

I’m surprised it took them that long to do it since the latest iPods display the artwork. I’ve purchased a little application that downloads artwork from Amazon because I’m an artwork junkie. Luckily I only spent $20 on it.

Picture 11.pngApple has subtly changed the appearance of iTunes again and the icon now has a blue note instead of a green note. You now have the option to view your iTunes library organized like the iTunes store.

I’m anxious to see how well the artwork fetcher works…stay tuned.

::UPDATE::

Picture 1.png The artwork fetching system sucks. But it looks like iTunes now uses CoverFlow as well.

You can cycle through your album covers and double click one to play the song, which is pretty cool.

Of four songs tested, iTunes was able to retrieve only one album cover. In all three other cases, Export Artwork retrieved every one.

The new version of iTunes is hot…and they finally got around to putting in an update feature. Having to download the entire program every time there is an update is lame.

Oh yea, but the album art downloading is kind of weak. Albums covers that they should have are not downloading.

Yep and it looks like the album art isn’t attached to the music file itself but rather put in a directory and a reference made in the XML library.

Export Artwork is a cheap app I bought that downloads the artwork from Amazon and actually attaches it to the music file so if you move your files a lot, like I do, your artwork goes with them.
