Is it a bot or a worm? Neither, its a BOTWORM!
This is the first I’ve heard someone mash bot and worm together and dub it ‘botworm.’ Computerworld.com dubbed the latest variant of Rinbot a botworm because a worm propagates a bot payload. Nothing new here except (I think) the term botworm.
In my opinion wormbot rolls off the tongue easier.
At any rate, we’re still three weeks away from the next patch cycle and Microsoft is still holding back the patch stating the threat isn’t ‘widespread.’ Again, I cringe when I hear that because widespread to them and widespread to me are two different monsters and I hate having to wait until a threat is already widespread to get protection.

It is amusing and somewhat frustrating how journalistic places are dubbing new terms for things. Perhaps it’s me and I’m getting old!
(I still refuse to use “evil twin” and instead use “rogue APs…”). I also like wormbot better, but either way it really makes me think of an RPG game monster to attack!
