I found it in one of “V’s” posts over at ViolentAcres.com.
All this week I’ve been working on a project that has kept me in the bowels of our data-center plugging away troubleshooting in a cubicle. Nothing is less fun than sitting in a gray monochrome cubicle with no view of a window troubleshooting technology you’ve never worked with.
Ugh.
But I can say that nothing beats a solid troubleshooting process. By logically working through a problem by first understanding what it is trying to do, you can identify and resolve any problem you are having.
I know this isn’t inline with my usual content, but I had to blog about it.
I recently visited the dentist for the first time in <cough> years. I must say that it has come a long way! Now I get cream on my gums to numb them before the numbing shots. I get laser treatment on my gums. I can get plastic, see-through braces.
Friggin’ cool.
I’ve deployed a new IPS sensor to one of our offices and have been tuning it for the last week. That office has one of our external-facing DNS servers in the DMZ. Behind the firewall sits one leg of the IPS and behind that sits the DNS server. (more…)
