I just finished listening to a panel discussion on the current state
of spyware. There were some good points and some not-so-good points.

Ira Winkler contended that spyware is the result of “dumb users.” He
couldn’t seem to get himself past that point to offer any useful

RSA Tuesday Keynotes

I’m still digesting all the info we got from the keynotes today.

Some quick and dirty observations; Microsoft’s proposal that IPSEC and
IPV6 are the next great delineation tools that will replace physical
network segregation is a lofty goal. IPV6 really hasn’t taken off yet
and IPSEC networks are stiil the stuff of military-grade networks.

RSA Expo–snake oil anyone?

This being my first RSA conference, I have to say I’m severely taken
aback by the amount of corporate marketing that is present. Call me
naive, even call me inexperienced, but it stilll doesn’t change the
fact that millions of dollars are spent to pray on the sheep.

RSA Registration Day = slow day

logorsaconference2007.gifRSA doesn’t really get started until tomorrow with the first keynote by Billy Gates. Since we all registered yesterday, we’re all doing conference calls and email catch-up, etc. I’ve finished my RSA schedule and have my time well-booked. San Francisco sites

I met up with Luke and Dan from AOL this morning and we walked all the way up Stockton to Fisherman’s Warf. Along the way we stopped at
Mama’s on Washington and had a fantastic breakfast. Its obviously a
local favorite, as the line stretched outside along the sidewalk. The
food was outstanding. Try the jelly, its homemade and great.
